Senator Mike Walsworth is a lifelong resident of Northeast, Louisiana. Mike has one daughter, Lindsay and son-in-law Jeff Cobb. They have given Mike his first grandson Connor Michael Cobb. He is married to Dawne Smith Walsworth, together they have four sons Chris, Zach, Kaden and Corbin.

Mike is a graduate of the University Louisiana at Monroe. He is active in a number of organizations. Mike is a member of the Jackson Street Church of Christ, where he serves as song leader. Mike is also a graduate of Leadership Ouachita and Leadership Louisiana.

Senator Mike Walsworth starts his 17th year in the Legislature. He is one of the longest serving members of our area delegation. He believes it is his obligation to serve our entire region and state.

Senator Walsworth was first elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 1995 and re-elected in 1999 and 2003. He was first elected to the Louisiana Senate in 2007 and re-elected in 2011. He serves as Chairman of Environmental Quality, Vice-Chair of Senate and Governmental Affairs. He continues to serve on the Select Committee on Homeland Security. He also serves on the Education Committee and the Joint Committee on the Budget for his 5th year. Mike is a member of the Legislative Audit Advisory Council, an interim member of Senate Finance, and a member of the Select Committee on High School Interscholastic Athletics.  Mike was a past Chairman of the Republican Legislative Delegation, and he has won several legislative honors for his pro-business and anti-tax support.
