Senator Mike Walsworth is a lifelong resident of West Monroe. He graduated from West Monroe High School as well as Northeast Louisiana University (ULM). He was first elected to public office in 1995 to the Louisiana House of Representatives and was reelected in 1999 and 2003. In 2007, he successfully ran for the Senate District 33 seat which is comprised of Claiborne, Lincoln, Morehouse, Ouachita, Union and West Carroll parishes. He was reelected in 2011 and in 2015. He is also currently the chairman of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee and the Legislative Audit Advisory Committee. In addition, he is also a member of the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget and the Senate Education Committee. Senator Walsworth is the former chairman of the Louisiana Republican Legislative Delegation. He has won numerous pro-business, economic development, early childhood education, and school-based health center awards. The Senator has a daughter, Lindsay Walsworth, a son Corbin Walsworth, and two grandsons, Connor and Oliver.
